About Douglas
Douglas is an interior designer in Nashville, TN, making paintings when she is not designing. With a love for both the built and natural environments, the combination of architecture in work and landscape focused painting feels only natural. Painting tends to combine the tedious of design with the freedom of creative vision.
Originally from Richmond, Virginia, Douglas attended the University of Georgia where she earned her BFA in Interior Design. She now lives in Nashville, TN with her chocolate lab, Dave.

artist statement
In painting a subject matter existing outside our own control, we can honor something we could never create ourselves. One force was able to create these landscapes in perfect variety and complexity, differing in the obvious of the visual, but also down to the molecular. In many ways, flower fields are just the same as the group of people convening at a cocktail party. Even the most manicured of landscapes cannot control the innate wild. Douglas paints these scenes in a study of this phenomenon.
